Good growth for Vessel-net http://www.vessel-net.com Vessel-net, a company based in Miami, Florida, reports that it is meeting success with its software package for managing activities onboard ships, with particular emphasis on the cruise industry. The company originally developed software for cruise line Princessa but is on the way to securing more deals. The software has 19 separate modules, all talking to a single central database. There are three forks covering passenger management, seafarer management (scheduling, health and safety) and maintenance management; all of these systems connect together. The passenger management system is the most advanced. The database holds data about who is onboard the vessel (based on a scan card input when the passenger gets onboard); it then shows which cabin the customer is in and which items are on the customer's payment account, such as what has been consumed from the room mini-bar. A traffic light system on the display shows whether a certain customer is onboard, or whether they are allowed to get off; for example if a bill is unpaid the system can indicate that the passenger should not be left off the vessel until it it. It is possible to arrange for messages to flash up when a certain passenger enters or exits the vessel, for example saying "happy birthday" or "your wife is waiting for you in the bar." It is possible to see individual customer itineraries. Authorised users can access a passenger's emergency phone contact, passport information, and club ID number, as well as status and nationality. The system can log if there is a problem with a room and when its going to be fixed, which ties back into the computer maintenance module. When a passenger goes into the bar, the system can check that their credit account is open and that they are old enough; Passengers can access the system and review their own bills. Cruise ship companies can use the system to put together special packages for individual customers, and sell them more services whilst onboard. +1 786 229 2140 Miami
