Panama Maritime University receives software donation
(May 21 2009)
ABS Nautical Systems reports that it has donated its NS5 fleet management software to the International Maritime University of Panama.
The donation includes the provision of the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory, Crew Management, Quality & Compliance and Replication Manager modules of the NS5 software package.
These modules are intended to be woven into existing student courses as real-world examples, giving students exposure to the software throughout their educational programme.
“Our curriculum is designed to prepare future officers for the practical challenges they will face throughout their maritime careers," said Victor Luna, acting president of the university.
“Our students will now experience first hand the management programs already in use on thousands of vessels. This is of great value to our students and their future employers."
The current version of the software, NS5.4, offers a number of extended functions developed by the company, including dry docking, on-demand reporting tools, hull inspection maintenance programs and web-based drawings management.
