Second generation electronic purchasing / optimising ship supply

This conference has been cancelled due to lower than anticipated delegate support

=== This one day conference is for shipping companies, suppliers and IT companies wishing to learn more about the latest and planned future developments in electronic purchasing, including for large suppliers such as Unitor and small independent suppliers.

At this stage most shipowners and suppliers are aware of the potential benefits of electronic purchasing - some are starting to dip their toe in and others are going full ahead.

There have been some pitfalls identified to date, in particular how suppliers are often required to log into many websites, and the software makes it so easy to submit RFQs to suppliers, that many suppliers do not bother to give their best quote to shipowners they are not accustomed to winning business from.

Some of the companies in the lead are identifying ways to find more efficiencies, for example buying ship supplies on subscription or long term contracts, or passing responsibility for keeping ships stocked with regularly used items onto the vendor.

This conference will review the development to date and anticipated future developments, and how more efficiencies can be gained.

Unitor will be explaining its new IT strategies for the first time, after its acquisition by Wilh Wilhelmsen Group.

The conference will address the complex issues of improving data quality and catalogues between shipowners and suppliers.

This is the first conference ever held specifically about electronic purchasing, and it is held in one of the world centres for ship supply, Rotterdam. If you are interested in the evolution of electronic purchasing, or believe electronic purchasing systems could do more to help your business, or interested in learning what is happening to other companies in the field, then come along.
