The Rising Tide of VSAT Services |
click for details... |
The VSAT industry has entered a period of major change - one that many VSAT service providers, satellite operators and system vendors have been anticipating and which some have already begun to experience. As with major tipping points in the past, these changes bring disruption and opportunity resulting in casualties and major successes. The details behind all this are complex and somewhat contradictory - competing technologies will catalyse growth in some areas and destroy existing business in others while new distribution channel structures will lock out some players and elevate others. This last happened at the turn of the century and VSAT prospered, now we need to consider what the next ten years will demand of the technology.
A New Generation of Maritime VSAT Services |

KVH continues to set new standards in the maritime VSAT market. In addition to enhancing its mini-VSAT Broadband service by adding global C-band overlays to its Ku-band coverage and creating the first maritime VSAT network providing worldwide coverage to small 1.1m antennas, KVH has invested in significant new product developments incorporating its CommBox network management technology into a new, fully integrated modem/antenna control unit/network management below deck unit. The result is a fantastic platform for supporting onboard networks and running ship-to-shore applications

Inmarsat Technical Presentation - Controlling and Optimising Data sent over |
click for details... |
Communication is imperative especially in a busy working environment. It is essential in sending and receiving vital information that relates to the efficient operation of your vessel. Everything needs to run smoothly.
There is a wide range of communication choices from Inmarsat. L-Band unlimited, Ku and L-Band Hybrid in the form of XpressLink? The final decision is yours. No matter what the choice is, the three important questions that are always asked are:
- 1) How fast is it?
- 2) What’s the coverage?
- 3) How reliable?
The speed of the product is irrelevant unless you understand the use of bandwidth, along with how to manage. This session is designed to cover the basics of management and optimisation, using what is commonly available, no matter what your choice in communication is.
