Professional tanker operations - 2007 and onwards

Representatives from International Tanker Management (managing director), Eurasia (executive vice president), OSM Shipmanagement (CEO), EMS Shipmanagement (head of safety, quality and environment) and Vista Shipmanagement will explain what they believe professionalism means for today's tanker operators.

Lloyd's Register will explain how leading tanker operators can fine-tune their maintenance systems and ABS will give advice on environmental compliance.

Speakers will also give insights on their experiences with oil majors, how oil majors are selecting which tanker operators to work with, and how well the TMSA scheme is working.

It has 20 tankers under commercial management from Dubai (16 chemical tankers and 4 LPGs); 15 vessels under technical management in Dubai (including 9 double hull tankers, 1 product tanker and 2 OBOs), and 23 vessels under technical management from Germany (including 7 double hull tankers, 5 bulk carriers, 2 chemical carriers, 4 oil / product tankers and 3 chemical / product tankers).

- Human resources - how to secure the crew
- How to be in line with expectations of oil majors
- The public's eye on the tanker operator and what this means
- Using KPIs and TMSA

OSM Shipmanagement was founded in 1989, and today has 300 vessels under its management, and operates from 17 offices around the world. It employs over 5,000 people. The OSM management philosophy is "keep it simple". OSM employees are free to contribute their ideas regardless of title or position. The company has deliberately avoided the traditional management pyramid where decision-making is concentrated at the top. A flat structure is a good motivator, where anyone with something to say can say it.
