Come to Digital Ship Scandinavia in Oslo on March 10-11 2009 to learn about how to get the most from maritime broadband satellite communications, electronic navigation and documentation, where Scandinavian shipping companies, in many respects, lead the world.
Peter Faurhoej, head of navigation and communications systems with Maersk Supply Service, will explain why Maersk made the decision to implement Inmarsat's FleetBroadband service across the entire Maersk Supply Service and Maersk Tankers Fleet.
Lars Brodje, managing director of Telemar Scandinavia, will tell the story of probably the world's largest merchant marine VSAT cluster in Göteborg with 250 vessels using VSAT, downloading up to 40 gb per vessel per month. Wasim Kayani, ship delivery manager with BP Shipping, will talk about BP's efforts to keep its vessels always on.
In a special session on electronic navigation, you can get an update on IMO plans to force all vessels to use electronic charts from Gerry Larson-Fredde, Director General, Norwegian Hydrographic Service - learn about developments in intertial positioning, which uses the same technology as on the Wii for ships to know where they are - as a reliable back-up to GPS.
The event will be held in the beautiful Telenor headquarters building at Fornebu, Oslo, which has won many architectural awards. All delegates will be invited to a dinner at Cafe Christiana, central Oslo, on the evening of March 10th, courtesy of our event sponsors Inmarsat.
