 Equasis http://www.equasis.org Search the world fleet database for information on quality and safety of individual vessels  Equasis is an initiative led by the EC and the French Maritime Commission to help make safety related information on the quality of individual vessels more easily accessible. It is a voluntary tool encouraging higher standards in the industry and seeking to help stamp out substandard shipping. The website provides a database of ships with such information from public authorities and industry organisations as is considered factual. Ship characteristics and ship management information are the two main parts of each ship record. A complete list of those providing information is available. The countries supporting the MOU on port state control are major financial contributors and it is anticipated that the website will remain free of charge.
