Essential information for Australian seamen and safety training courses for those working in Australian waters

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority is a largely self-funded government agency with the charter of enhancing efficiency in the delivery of safety and other services to the Australian maritime industry.

There is a wide range of safety, environmental and training information of relevance to Australian seafarers and those wishing to work in Australia. This is a must visit site for the Australian seafarer.

AMSA has responsibility for licensing all crew members of Australian ships to ensure their competency standards meet the needs of the Australian Shipping Industry and Australia's obligations under STCW95. There are many resources available including information regarding marine safety courses.

Many of the documents are available both in html and Acrobat pdf format, and include a range of fact sheets covering pollution response and liability, Australian Search and Rescue (AusSAR), distress beacons, Port State Control in Australia and the Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS).
