Pangolin has a range of resources and useful computer software including
a fleet code plotter for displaying the International Fleet codes on a
map. There is also a calculator for magnetic variation, and a conversion
utility for changing knots to mph etc.
The Almanac online includes times of sun rise, sunset and magnetic variation
for any location. You can also see views of the night sky with the names
of navigational stars and planets.
The YOTREPS Reporter is a program for formatting position and weather
observations from vessels. It can be used to let people back home know
where you are, and for reporting severe weather conditions. It produces
reports in plain English text, and can be read by position plotters, weather
analysis and archive software and easily passed over HF radio and e-mail.
The daily position and weather observations are used in a long term analysis
of trends in ocean cruising weather and are vital information for forecasters
and search and rescue co-ordinators.
