Classification societies
The class societies' websites; plenty of useful safety information
ABS, LR and DNV have all committed to providing a comprehensive lists of all class
transfers, de-classifications and suspensions online and each of the three websites
contains such a list. In addition the “big three” have built systems for communicating
with shipowners and shipyards. ABS and DNV use a system linked to 3-D models of
the vessel, whereas LR is focussing on a pure information-driven approach, which
it says speeds up the dissemination of information.
