 Seamans Church Institute of New York / New Jersey http://www.seamenschurch.org Personal, professional and spiritual well-being for mariners  The Seamen's Church Institute (SCI) has existed since 1834 to care for seafarer's practical and spiritual needs and continues to work through the centre in New York and its "Ministry on the river" serving the US inland waterways. The institute runs sunday services and organises events at christmas. The center for maritime education enhances seafarer competency through simulator based training courses at its three offices in New York, Paducah Kentucky and Houston Texas. SCI also runs seminars on subjects such as crew endurance management and fire training courses. The center for seafarers rights provides information, advice and referral services to seafarers themselves and promotes the improvement of international laws affecting maritime safety and protecting seafarers. Their quarterly magazine "The Lookout" can be downloaded online and you can also find contact details, a rental service and some links.
