Harnessing Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development in Shipping

The maritime industry is undergoing a challenging period right now. Companies are reflecting on their operations and processes, and looking at how to maintain competitiveness, using advances in technology to unlock exciting business potential, tackle organisational challenges and harness innovation.

So how can the industry adapt to these new technologies, and harness innovation to build sustainability, agility and efficiency into their businesses? How is technology changing the way we operate and do business?

To address these issues, Digital Ship is excited to be bringing its unique forum to Copenhagen – a country with a strong maritime and shipping heritage – and collaboration. Home to the world's largest shipping company, A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group, and other major players like Torm, DFDS, J. Lauritzen, Svitzer, Norden, and many more.

Denmark is a world-renowned and highly international hub for all types of shipping activities. The size and importance of Danish shipping on an international scale is best illustrated by the fact, that the fleet operated by Danish shipping companies' transports approximately 10% of all globally traded goods.1

Through plenary presentations, open forum Q&A and panel sessions, and dedicated workshops, this year's Digital Ship Copenhagen will be a platform, to both look back at recent developments and discuss how these have changed the maritime landscape, and not least to provide a valuable snapshot into how technology advances are driving the evolution of shipping and review the game changing impact of innovation on the maritime world.

The conference will focus on the following areas:

  • Reviewing Developments in Maritime Technology
  • How is Innovation Driving the Future of Shipping?
  • Beyond Connectivity - Evolution or Revolution?
  • Cyber Security and Future-Proofing Your IT Infrastructure
  • Big Data and Analytics to Drive Innovation, Competitiveness and Growth
  • What to Consider when Considering the Cloud
  • Managing Energy Efficiency and Vessel Performance
  • Future Proofing Your Infrastructure
  • Digitalisation Transforming the Maritime Landscape
  • Exclusive Interactive End User Workshop: Hosted by Marlink. An A-Z of VSAT – Considerations, Delivery and Installation

Digital Ship Copenhagen will provide an opportunity for some of the industry's leading technology experts and business heads to explore, discuss and debate the on-going role of IT and communications in the shipping industry and help to solve the technology, leadership and business challenges ahead.

Digital Ship events around the world have been developed to address issues and trends that technology leaders face in an increasingly challenging and continuously developing business environment. Technical innovators in the maritime sector are expected to deliver strategies capable of both driving revenue and reducing costs for their organisations - whilst remaining at the forefront of technological breakthroughs and making smart decisions about maritime technology and satellite communications selection, investment and implementation.
