In December 2006, the vessel sank in 60 metres of water and, after resting on the seabed for five months, was re-floated and towed to Freeport, Grand Bahama. She arrived safely on 23 January 2008, for a total refit.
The overall cost of the refit will be in the region of $50m, of which $20m has been awarded to R&B Switchgear for electrics.
R&B has, in turn, tasked SELEX Communications with providing the full complement of JRC bridge systems including radar, AIS, Fleet 77, GMDSS and associated equipment. C
ompletion of the refit is planned for October 2008.
