Hapag-Lloyd has committed to making new investments in digitalisation and automation over the next five years, as it unveiled details of its new ‘Strategy 2023’ corporate plan.

Lloyd’s Register (LR) reports that it has presented Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) with approval in principle (AiP) for its smart ship system INTELLIMAN SHIP, the first time the ‘Digital AL2 SAFE PERFORM SECURE’ notation has been granted to confirm compliance with LR’s new Digital Ships requirements.

Genavir, the vessel operating arm of Ifremer (the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea), has rolled out the Marlink XChange Telemed crew health and safety management service across five ocean-going research vessels; Alis, Antea, L’Atalante, Pourquoi Pas? and Thalassa.

STM project concluded

The  three-year, €20 million STM Validation Project has concluded with a final conference held at the International Maritime Organization in London, where representatives of nine industry stakeholders expressed their intention to take future responsibility for the digital Maritime Service Infrastructure developed by the project.

Inmarsat adds new cyber security options

Inmarsat has announced two new components for its Fleet Secure maritime cyber security service, with the addition of a multi-layered endpoint security solution, Fleet Secure Endpoint, as well as a training app for mobile devices called Fleet Secure Cyber Awareness.

Cyber ready VLCC delivered by HHI

ABS and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) report that they have collaborated in the development of a new set of cyber security requirements for the ABS Cyber Security-Ready (CS-Ready) Notation for marine assets, with ABS issuing the first CS-Ready Notation to a VLCC delivered by HHI from its Korean yard in November.
