Denmark launches maritime cyber strategy

MOL to roll-out Fleet Xpress to entire fleet

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), one of Japan’s largest shipping companies, has announced plans to ramp up installations of Inmarsat’s Fleet Xpress (FX) VSAT service across the remainder of its owned and managed fleet, having begun initial deployments of the system on the majority of its car carriers in 2016, shortly after FX was launched.

Marlink, and its Group subsidiary company Palantir, have agreed a deal with Torvald Klaveness to become the preferred supplier of satcom and IT management systems for vessels managed by Klaveness Ship Management.

Fleet Management Limited has agreed a deal with classification society ABS to implement a cyber security system based on the ABS FCI Cyber Risk model on Fleet Management’s 220-vessel liquid cargo fleet.

IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim has highlighted the need to consider seafarer training and standards as the use of technology in shipping evolves in the future, and the automation of tasks currently performed by humans continues to grow.
