ISS to get NORAIS upgrade

Kongsberg has reported that the NORAIS ship-detection system deployed on the International Space Station (ISS) is to be upgraded, with the NORAIS 2 system launching this week aboard the Space X vehicle.

Canadian satellite AIS service provider exactEarth has reported that it has added three new satellites to its exactView constellation, expanding the company’s space-based AIS network to eight satellites in total.

L-3 SAM Electronics has been awarded a contract to provide its NACOS Platinum navigation, automation and control system, as well as communications equipment, for three new Hamburg Süd container ships.

Transas Marine Pacific reports that it has secured a contract with the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration for installation and commissioning of the country's National Coastal Surveillance System, in conjunction with local Transas partner Mercuries Data Systems (MDS).

BMT introduces collision simulation service

BMT today announced the launch of a new service that will create simulations of marine collisions in an effort to identify failings and improve safety.

exactEarth today announced that it has concluded a mutually exclusive agreement with SRT to develop and commercialise technology that will for the first time enable low power AIS transceivers of the types being deployed on small commercial and leisure vessels to be tracked from space.

Kongsberg Seatex, a Kongsberg Maritime subsidiary, has announced the launch of a new generation of Blue Force (BF) Automatic Identification Systems (AIS), the AIS 300BF, which is designed for vessels undertaking coast guard, anti-piracy, navy and border police operations.
