ClassNK, IHI Marine United (IHIMU), Diesel United (DU) and IBM Japan have announced that they will jointly develop a ship maintenance management system, with the aim of helping to reduce ship lifecycle costs.
ClassNK reports that it has started full scale ship tests to develop a feedback scheme on the impact of ship design on vessel performance in actual sea conditions.
ClassNK claims that it has released the world’s first software package for use with the new IACS Harmonized Common Structural Rules (CSR) for bulk carriers and oil tankers, which were released at the beginning of July 2012.
