DNV GL releases recommended cyber practice

DNV GL has published a Recommended Practice (RP) on ‘Cyber Security Resilience Management’, developed in cooperation with customers to provide guidance on risk assessment, general improvements to cyber security, and the verification of security improvements and management systems.

Mont Hope Ship Management, a new company focusing on servicing vessels engaged in the energy sector, is to implement DNV GL’s ShipManager integrated software system across its entire fleet.

Engine manufacturer MaK and Caterpillar’s Marine Asset Intelligence organisation have partnered with DNV GL to normalise the predictive analytics of Cat Asset Intelligence systems in accordance with DNV GL’s Survey Arrangement Machinery Condition Monitoring (CM) requirements, to move away from time based maintenance to condition based maintenance.

DNV GL and Prisma Electronics have signed a partnership agreement on fleet performance management which will see Prisma’s LAROS system, a wireless onboard data collection platform for vessel performance management, used by DNV GL’s ECO Insight portal as part of its fleet performance analytics.

DNV GL reports that it has recently completed its first production surveys using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or drone, with 14 tanks on the MV Apollo, a chemical tanker owned by Carl Büttner Shipmanagement in Bremerhaven, Germany, inspected over a period of two and a half days by two DNV GL surveyors.

ShipManager for 41 German ships

German shipping company Vertom-Bojen Bereederungs is to implement DNV GL’s ShipManager integrated fleet management software on 41 vessels, the companies report.

Kongsberg Maritime has entered into a partnership with class society DNV GL to issue product certificates for maritime simulator systems, required by maritime training providers in order to meet flag state requirements under STCW regulation I/12.

DNV GL reports that the latest release of its ShipManager software package has added an update to its Safety Management Reporting module, with a new user interface that allows users to create their own customisable forms and streamline reporting processes.
