Royston begins engine diagnostics programme

Diesel power company Royston has introduced a new engine diagnostics, health check and consultancy service to add to its traditional marine engine service and repair business, investing in new technology and equipment, and enhancing its software capabilities to provide analysis of engine and condition monitoring data.

UK Electronic Solutions, part of the NSSLGlobal Group, has launched a new self-contained motion and impact monitoring system called Oceanic Dynamics, which aims to allow offshore vessels to monitor and report impact on structures, as well as advising on engine performance and reliability.

ABB has opened a second Integrated Operations Centre in Helsinki, to provide real time vessel monitoring services to the passenger, cargo and icegoing vessel sectors.

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has chosen Marlink to deliver VSAT broadband connectivity with unlimited traffic volume across its fleet of newly built containerships, including the recently named 18,800 TEU MV Barzan.

L-3 SAM to retrofit Taiwanese research ship

L-3 SAM Electronics reports that it has been awarded a contract to retrofit the Taiwanese Navy’s Ta Kuan research vessel with propulsion control and automation systems.

ClassNK and Makita have agreed to extend the former’s CMAXS e-GICSX condition-based engine monitoring system to Mitsui-Makita MAN B&W main engines.
