EPIC FleetBroadband deal

Greek company Otesat-Maritel has announced that it has won a contract with EPIC Shipping to provide it with FleetBroadband services.

Satcom service provider Otesat-Maritel has announced that it has been chosen by ship management company Chandris to provide FleetBroadband and value-added services. Both companies are based in Greece.

Alphasat, designed and built by Astrium for Inmarsat and the European Space Agency (ESA), has left Astrium’s facilities in Toulouse after completion of its final integration and test campaign and is now en route to Kourou, French Guyana, to be prepared for its launch aboard an Ariane 5, scheduled for the end of July.

SPO upgrades to all-you-can-eat FB

Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO), a Singapore-based service provider to the offshore oil and gas industry, is upgrading from Inmarsat’s FleetBroadband (FB) 5GB service to the FB Unlimited plan.

Inmarsat has reported an increase of almost nine per cent in maritime revenues for the first quarter of 2013, compared with the same period last year, partly as a result of the price rises it has introduced on its FleetBroadband and E&E services over the last year.
