$200k grant available for fuel-saving technology

Carbon War Room (CWR), a non-profit organisation backed by Virgin boss Richard Branson, reports that it is to make grants up to US$200,000 to finance shipowners or charterers in retrofitting a single vessel with a bundle of technologies, with the aim of creating a minimum fuel saving of 10–15 per cent.

$10m investment for BSS in the UK

Broadband Satellite Services Ltd (BSS), parent company of Satcom Global and AND Group, has received a $10 million investment from UK-based organisation, Business Growth Fund (BGF).

Global satellite broadband start-up OneWeb has announced that it has raised $500 million in funding from a group of international companies, including Intelsat, Coca-Cola and previously announced partner Airbus.

Windward, a maritime analytics company that recently received $10.8 million in funding for its data platform, has launched the latest version of its MARINT maritime intelligence solution.

Phasor has been awarded a €2 million grant under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme, to assist in the commercial development of the company’s flat panel antenna technology.
