Intelsat reports that Intelsat 33e, the second of its Intelsat EpicNG series of high throughput satellites (HTS), has arrived safely at the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana, where it will undergo final preparations before its scheduled launch on an Ariane 5 rocket on August 24, 2016.

Epic era begins

Intelsat 29e, the first of Intelsat’s EpicNG series of high throughput satellites, has launched successfully from French Guiana aboard an Ariane 5 vehicle and signal acquisition has been confirmed, the company has announced.

Kymeta Corporation and Intelsat report that they have successfully completed initial testing of the mobility performance of Kymeta’s flat-panel antennas on Intelsat’s satellite network for maritime applications.

First Epic launch date announced

Intelsat has announced that Intelsat 29e, the first of the Intelsat EpicNG series of high throughput satellites, is scheduled to launch on January 27, 2016.

Intelsat and Japan’s SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation have signed an agreement to form a joint venture that will launch a new satellite with C-band and high throughput Ku-band capacity to meet connectivity demands in the Asia-Pacific region.

Intelsat issues Q3 results

Intelsat has reported its Q3 2015 results, showing revenues of $580.8 million, down from the $608.6 million recorded for the same period last year, but a net income of $78 million that was approximately $10 million higher than in 2014.

Intelsat 34 enters service

Intelsat’s recently launched IS-34 satellite has now arrived at its destination and has entered service, expanding Ku-band capacity for the maritime market.

Intelsat has announced the successful launch of its Intelsat 34 satellite from French Guiana, aboard an Ariane 5 vehicle on August 20th, which will bolster the company’s Ku-band capacity for the maritime market.

Intelsat reports Q2 results

Intelsat has issued its Q2 2015 results, reporting total revenue of $598.1 million and net income of $60.2 million.

Global satellite broadband start-up OneWeb has announced that it has raised $500 million in funding from a group of international companies, including Intelsat, Coca-Cola and previously announced partner Airbus.
