Speedcast adds maritime GSM data and TV services

Speedcast has introduced a new global near-shore, data-only 4G/LTE GSM connectivity system called GO4SPEED, aimed at the maritime and energy markets, as well as a new at-sea television service called Speedcast TV On Demand.

UK-based Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has agreed a deal with Speedcast to provide end-to-end communication services on board its fleet of four cruise ships, including VSAT and land-based 4G/LTE connectivity.

Netherlands-based Shipping Company Groningen has agreed a deal to roll out the shipznet vessel communications systems on part of its fleet of vessels.

Silversea Cruises has agreed a deal with Telenor Maritime and SES to roll out a mobile ecosystem on board its fleet of eight vessels, including global VSAT services and mobile broadband backhaul, 3G and Wi-Fi with speeds up to 150 Mbps.

Ultra packages launched for shipznet

German maritime GSM data provider bobz GmbH has announced the launch of its new shipznet ultra packages, offering users a choice between Global, Midsize or Europe packages from 20 GB per month.

Buzz Networks launches CrewCode

UK-based maritime GSM data company Buzz Marine has announced the launch of its new CrewCode service, a voucher based system similar to those used in hotels whereby users are given, or purchase, a code for a fixed data allowance to access onboard Wi-Fi networks.
