Intellian launches dual FX antenna system

Finnlines rolls out connectivity platform

Telenor Maritime is to roll out a new connectivity platform for Finnlines’ ro-pax vessels, comprising an ecosystem of GSM, Wi-Fi, Ka-band VSAT and mobile broadband backhaul services, the companies have announced.

A special event on board the Regal Princess cruise ship, operated by Carnival’s Princess Cruises brand, has set what is thought to be a new maritime satellite bandwidth record with a 1.5 gigabits per second link established on board the vessel in conjunction with satellite operator SES Networks.

SpaceX has successfully launched the first two demonstration satellites for its proposed Starlink global satellite internet network aboard one of its Falcon 9 launch vehicles, part of a joint payload mission alongside Hisdesat’s PAZ satellite.

SES’ latest satellite, SES-12, has been unveiled for the first time to a group of journalists at Airbus Defence and Space’s headquarters in Toulouse, France, as it undergoes final tests before transport to Cape Canaveral, Florida, for launch in March 2018.

New generation of FB terminals planned

Inmarsat and Intellian report that they have signed an outline agreement covering the design and manufacture of a new generation of FleetBroadband terminals, supporting both the existing I-4 satellite network as well as Inmarsat’s planned sixth generation I-6 satellite constellation, the first of which is scheduled for launch in 2020.

Campbell Shipping to migrate to Fleet Xpress

Inmarsat reports that it has reached an agreement with ship management company Campbell Shipping, headquartered in Nassau, The Bahamas, to migrate its fleet of dry bulk carriers to the Fleet Xpress VSAT service.
