Cobham unveils lightweight Ka-band antennas

Cobham SATCOM is unveiling a new generation of lightweight 60cm Ka-band VSAT antenna systems, designed for High Throughput Satellites (HTS) services on Inmarsat Global Xpress and Telenor’s THOR 7.

After five tumultuous years, Inmarsat can finally celebrate the successful launch of the third satellite in its Global Xpress constellation after the spacecraft was sent safely into orbit today from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan – paving the way for the introduction of global service on the network later this year.

Intellian reports that it has partnered with Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) to receive approval for use of its 60cm and 1m VSAT platforms on the TSBc Ka-band satellite, THOR 7.

Final GX satellite set for launch this month

Inmarsat has announced that it now expects its delayed I-5 F3 satellite, the final satellite in the Global Xpress network, to be launched at the end of this month – paving the way for the global introduction of commercial service by the end of the year.

Inmarsat has been forced to delay the launch of its final Global Xpress (GX) satellite following the failure of the preceding Proton Breeze M launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Saturday 16 May.

Inmarsat has announced that it has approved the Global Xpress (GX) and FleetBroadband terminals manufactured by Intellian for use with its FleetBroadband Xtra service.

Inmarsat has confirmed that its third Global Xpress (GX) satellite – Inmarsat-5 F3 – has safely arrived at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan in anticipation of its launch later this month.
