The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS) have announced the launch of Smart Port Challenge (SPC) 2020 under Port Innovation Ecosystem Reimagined @ BLOCK71 (PIER71). Start-ups participating in this year’s challenge will now have direct access to PIER71’s Venture Capital (VC) partner network for investment advice and opportunities.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS), have announced that 12 start-ups from Port Innovation Ecosystem Reimagined @ BLOCK71 (PIER71)’s Smart Port Challenge (SPC) 2019 have each been awarded S$50,000 in grant funding from MPA. The funding will enable the start-ups to conduct prototype development and test-bed their near market-ready solutions.

A new maritime cybersecurity operations centre (MSOC) has been opened by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to monitor and correlate data activities across all maritime Critical Information Infrastructure (CII).

Singapore MPA signs 3D printing agreements

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced two new agreements to bring 3D printing capabilities to the port, having signed MoUs covering the creation of an additive manufacturing production facility for port applications, and the launch of a Joint Industry Programme (JIP) for additive manufacturing of marine parts.

Wärtsilä has opened a new International Maritime Cyber Centre of Excellence (IMCCE) in Singapore, consisting of a Maritime Cyber Emergency Response Team (MCERT) and a cyber academy, created in conjunction with its new cyber security strategic partner, Templar Executives.

Wärtsilä has signed a partnership deal with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to promote maritime innovation and R&D, covering four different streams: digital acceleration, cyber-physical security, intelligent vessels and port operations.

Fujitsu, Singapore Management University (SMU), and A*STAR’s Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) have announced a collaboration agreement to develop new technologies for vessel traffic management at the Port of Singapore, with the support of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is set to launch a new Maritime Transformation Programme (MTP) and Singapore Maritime Data Hub (SG-MDH), as part of its efforts to build a support ecosystem for innovation and R&D in the port city.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced details of a new Sea Transport Industry Transformation Map (ITM), which aims to apply emerging technologies arising from ‘Industry 4.0’ as part of a long term strategic plan to develop its next-generation port and international maritime centre (IMC).
