MPA extends digital services

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has expanded its range of digital services for ships visiting the port, as the organisation reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Singapore at the forefront of technological innovation in the maritime sector.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Shell Eastern Trading have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate in the research and development and test-bedding of maritime projects in areas including clean fuel technologies, automation and digitalisation.

The International Maritime Centre (IMC) 2030 Advisory Committee, established by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in August 2016, has submitted its IMC 2030 Strategic Review report to the Singapore government, outlining the city-state’s vision to create a Global Maritime Hub for connectivity, innovation and talent.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and IBM have jointly completed the pilot trial of three modules under the MPA-IBM SAFER project, which will be rolled out in stages from September 2017.

MPA launches Smart Port Challenge

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has launched its latest Smart Port Challenge (SPC 2017), building upon previous Smart Port Hackathons in 2014 and 2015 with the aim of encouraging collaboration between stakeholder organisations and tech start-ups to drive digital transformation in the maritime industry.

The SESAME Straits e-Navigation project, which aims to apply technology in the reduction of  maritime traffic congestion and in improving traffic safety and efficiency in Singapore, has conducted a successful demonstration in close collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has signed five separate Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with local and international partners that will see tens of millions of dollars invested in research and development into a range of emerging technologies in the maritime sector, in areas like port technology, vessel traffic management and autonomous operations.
