Marlink buys Livewire Connections

Marlink has continued its recent expansion drive in the leisure sector with the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the shares in Livewire Connections, a UK-headquartered satellite communications service provider with a focus on the superyacht sector.

Marlink and Radio Holland have concluded a partnership agreement whereby Marlink will take over all of Radio Holland’s satellite communications customers, taking its VSAT customer base to approximately 5,000 vessels.

Marlink adds 4G option in Gulf of Mexico

Marlink reports that it has added new Tampnet 4G LTE services in the Gulf of Mexico, which will allow customers of its Sealink multi-band network to make use of GSM data connectivity alongside the VSAT, L-band satcom and Wi-Fi services it already provides in the region.

Ponant extends comms agreement

French cruise company Ponant has extended its VSAT and GSM services contract with Marlink, which will improve bandwidth speeds on its five-strong fleet of yachts and cruise vessels, while also adding four planned newbuilds to its communications deal.

Marlink reports that it has upgraded its Sealink C-band VSAT service, to more easily integrate with existing and future Ka and Ku-band systems for users operating a multi-band network on board their ships.

Grieg Star ships to implement VSAT

Grieg Star, a shipping company headquartered in Bergen, Norway, is to roll-out a new VSAT system across its fleet of 33 General Cargo Open Hatch vessels, having agreed a deal with Marlink to implement its Sealink VSAT Premium service.

Italian ship owner d’Amico Group is to implement Marlink’s Sealink Premium Plus VSAT service across its fleet of more than 50 dry cargo and product tankers, the companies report.
