Marlink expands cyber services

Marlink has expanded its range of cyber security services for maritime with the addition of a new Cyber Detection system which monitors all outbound and inbound network traffic and displays alerts through a web-based dashboard.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises agrees new VSAT deal

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has signed a renewed contract with Marlink for the provision of VSAT services on its fleet of four cruise vessels, while also adding two new cruise ships which are due to enter operational service in 2019.

Cloud file transfer added to XChange

Marlink has introduced XChange Cloud, a file storage, transfer and synchronisation system running on the company’s XChange IT and communications management platform.

Marlink expands Ku-band network

Marlink reports that it has expanded its global VSAT network with the addition of new satellites and beams in the Americas and in the Mediterranean, extending its coverage and bandwidth capacity across these regions.

Italy-based shipping company d’Amico Group has partnered with RINA and Marlink subsidiary Telemar to build a new digital fleet operations centre in Rome, which will see the vessel operator ramp up data collection from its ships to improve performance analysis.

Marlink expands Indian Ocean VSAT footprint

Marlink reports that it has added a new satellite to its VSAT network, expanding its footprint in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and adding additional Ku-band capacity for ships transiting southern routes between Asia and Africa, as well as fishing vessels operating east of Africa’s coastline and out towards the Maldives and Seychelles.

Marlink and Seagull Maritime have partnered to develop a satcom-enabled online environment for the distribution and updating of e-learning material for ships at sea, with the aim of automating content management on board.

Knutsen extends VSAT contract for tanker fleet

Norwegian tanker company Knutsen has extended its satcom contract with Marlink, covering VSAT and back-up services for the fleet of 38 shuttle tankers, LNG carriers, and product and chemical tankers, as well as two planned newbuilds.
