Polarcus extends C-band VSAT contract

Dubai-based geophysical services company Polarcus has extended its global C-band VSAT contract with Marlink for a further three years.

DOF Group extends Marlink VSAT contract

DOF Group reports that it has renewed its VSAT services contract with Marlink for five more years, with an option to further extend its communications capabilities.

Space News has reported that Apax and Airbus Defence and Space are close to agreeing a deal on the sale of the latter’s mobile satellite communications services division, which Airbus originally bought from Apax in 2011.

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has chosen Marlink to deliver VSAT broadband connectivity with unlimited traffic volume across its fleet of newly built containerships, including the recently named 18,800 TEU MV Barzan.

Marlink has signed a partner agreement with Tampnet which will see 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) services added to its VSAT and MSS (Mobile Satellite Services) portfolio in the North Sea.

Van Oord agrees fleet-wide VSAT deal

Marlink is to provide VSAT services for the entire fleet of the international dredging and offshore contractor Van Oord, a contract expected to include 30 vessels by the end of 2015.

MSC begins iDirect upgrade

MSC Cruises has become the first cruise line in the world to begin to roll out the latest iDX 3.2 software and X7 modem from iDirect, with the aim of optimising its VSAT communications with higher throughput and improved functionality.

Airbus Defence and Space has added five new members to its Field Service Alliance (FSA), bringing the total number of partners in its maritime VSAT network to ten.
