ClassNK to offer DCS support

ClassNK has launched a support service to assist shipping companies in setting up data collection plans in accordance with the DCS (Data Collection System) fuel consumption reporting requirement introduced by the IMO.

A group of associations representing the European shipping industry, including CLIA Europe, EBA, ECASBA, ECSA, EMPA, ETA, ETF, EuDA, Interferry, and WSC have signed a statement welcoming the European Commission’s mid-term review of the EU Maritime Transport Strategy 2009-2018, calling for better regulation and a fundamental overhaul of the EU Reporting Formalities’ Directive.

EU MRV application added by Kongsberg

Kongsberg Maritime has developed a new Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) application for its K-Fleet suite of Marine Fleet Management Software used to meet the requirements of new EU-regulation 2015/757, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping.

Tug and Barge Solutions (TBS) has announced a new partnership with Helm Operations that will see the TBS safety and compliance management program integrated with Helm CONNECT for customers who wish to use an electronic system to manage their safety and compliance, particularly for Subchapter M.

Krill completes Seacor installation

Krill Systems has announced that it has completed the installation and sea-trial of its Vessel Fuel Measurement and Monitoring System (VFMMS) on the DP-2 PSV supply vessel M/V Seacor ‘Olmeca’, the latest in an ongoing line of installations on the Seacor OSV fleet.

DNV GL reports that the latest release of its ShipManager software package has added an update to its Safety Management Reporting module, with a new user interface that allows users to create their own customisable forms and streamline reporting processes.

PwC Greece is to open a new Maritime Sustainability Centre staffed by a team of specialists focusing on sustainable business in the shipping sector, with a particular focus on upcoming EU MRV regulations.

The European Parliament has approved draft EU rules requiring ship owners using EU ports to monitor and report CO2 emissions each year.
