ECDIS suppliers deliver 225 STM systems

Three of the industry’s largest ECDIS suppliers, Transas, Wärtsilä SAM Electronics and Adveto, have supplied the first Sea Traffic Management-compatible onboard equipment, with 225 such systems being made available to the EU-backed project.

Wärtsilä has been awarded a contract to provide integrated turnkey electrical packages, including its Nacos Platinum navigation system, for four new RoRo ferries being built at the Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) yard in Germany.

Wärtsilä has agreed to supply its Nacos Platinum series of integrated navigation, automation, and propulsion control systems for 27 new container vessels being built for Maersk Line at yards in China and South Korea, the sum of three contracts agreed since summer 2015.

‘The World’, the largest private residential ship on the seas, is to be retrofitted with a Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum system for navigation and external communication purposes, the company reports.

Voyager Planning Station updated

Global Navigation Solutions (GNS) has launched its new version of the Voyager Planning Station (VPS), which has been updated to improve interoperability with third party systems, including Applied Weather Technology (AWT) weather routing software and SAM Electronics’ ECDIS.

Wärtsilä Corporation has announced that its acquisition of Germany based L-3 Marine Systems International (MSI) has been finalised, and control of the company will be transferred to Wärtsilä with effect from 1st June 2015.

L-3 SAM to retrofit Taiwanese research ship

L-3 SAM Electronics reports that it has been awarded a contract to retrofit the Taiwanese Navy’s Ta Kuan research vessel with propulsion control and automation systems.

L-3 SAM Electronics has been awarded a contract to provide a range of technology systems to two offshore supply vessels for the Norwegian shipowner, Siem Offshore.

L-3 Marine Systems International (L-3 MSI) has been awarded a contract to provide its NACOS Platinum navigation system, including an integrated dynamic positioning system, for the third ship in Royal Caribbean International’s (RCI) Oasis class, built by STX France at its shipyard in Saint-Nazaire.

L-3 SAM equips Heavy-Lift Jack-Up Vessel

L-3 SAM Electronics announced today that it has completed the supply and installation of automation, navigation and positioning systems on board the Heavy-Lift Jack-Up Vessel (HLJV) Vidar, which is operated by HOCHTIEF Infrastructure for construction and service support of offshore wind farms.
