ClassNK has released the latest version of PrimeShip-HULL for Container Carriers, its structural design support software for container ships.

Rolls-Royce, The Norwegian University of Technology Science (NTNU), research organisation SINTEF Ocean, and classification society DNV GL have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to create an open source digital platform for use in the development of new ships, capable of creating a vessel’s ‘digital twin’.

Lloyd’s Register (LR), in collaboration with RaonX Solutions (RaonX), has released new software to assist shipbuilders with the more stringent requirements demanded in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) under the latest IACS and Classification Rules.

LR buys software company Seasafe

Lloyd’s Register (LR) reports that it has acquired Seasafe Marine Software & Computation, a provider of on-board loading and stability software to manage the stability of vessels and offshore structures.

ABB has signed an agreement with Wuchang Ship Building Group to work together on the development of digital systems for ‘greener’ ships.

The European Commission has granted €6.2 million in funding to the SHIPLYS (Ship Lifecycle Software Solutions) research project, a group of 12 maritime companies and research facilities from several European countries working to develop simulation and modelling tools to improve ship design and production.
