Container shipping blockchain start-up 300cubits has announced the successful completion of the first trial shipment in its smart contract system, deployed on the Ethereum blockchain.
300cubits’ roll out of its TEU cryptocurrency for the shipping industry has received a boost with the news that members of Coopernic Group, a strategic buying alliance from Europe, have confirmed their participation in the project by joining the Shipper Sign-Up Scheme for the new crypto tokens.
The seemingly endless stream of maritime blockchain projects has had another addition with the launch of a new cryptocurrency called SHIPs (Shipping Industry Participations), which aims to tokenise marine assets to allow them to be traded in small chunks, opening up the asset financing market to a wider range of smaller participants.
A Hong Kong-based firm has launched a cryptocurrency specifically for the shipping industry, built on the already established Ethereum blockchain, which will begin its initial coin offering (ICO) on August 16th.
Digital Ship magazine provides the latest information about maritime satellite communications technology, software systems, navigation technology, computer networks, data management and TMSA. It is published ten times a year.
