Kongsberg Maritime, working with the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO), has added AIO (Admiralty Information Overlay) functionality to its latest K-Bridge ECDIS and K-Nav ECDIS software, to make additional chart information available to the mariner when using its ECDIS models.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}AIO is a free service included with the Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS). The overlay contains worldwide Admiralty Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners (T&P NMs), to be used in conjunction with ENCs.

The company notes that AIO is also the only service to include ENC Preliminary Notices to Mariners (EPNMs), the result of an Admiralty Assurance Programme review of the world’s ENCs undertaken by the UKHO to identify and resolve significant differences between ENCs and existing Admiralty paper charts.

“With Kongsberg Maritime now delivering an ECDIS that is compatible with AIO, we can offer our customers a product which will enable them to plan and execute updated routes with increased efficiency,” said Carl Magne Rustand, product manager navigation, Kongsberg Maritime.{/mprestriction}
