Raytheon to launch customer-defined ECDIS

Raytheon Anschütz has announced the launch of what it says is world’s first user-defined ECDIS, with the new Synapsis ECDIS NX software having been developed based on direct input from the company’s customers.

“The new ECDIS demonstrates the effectiveness of our agile software development and active user participation. Raytheon Anschutz’s engineering team provided the technical base, but the support and feedback from our customers and professional seafarers made our ECDIS NX a uniquely powerful tool,” said Björn Schröder, Raytheon product manager for ECDIS

Synapsis ECDIS NX also includes multi-user setting options as well as functions such as guided route planning with a self-explaining route manager, ETA assistant, curved heading line, and look-ahead zones with graphical danger indicators.

The application has been built on the technical foundation of Raytheon’s Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS), which will make integrated INS functions, such as alert management or sensor integrity monitoring, available for the stand-alone ECDIS.

Raytheon Anschütz will officially launch ECDIS NX at Nor-Shipping 2017 in Oslo.{/mprestriction}
