{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The new digital platform covers the use of 66 ECDIS operations, providing quick educational guidance to assist officers with their speed of use of ECDIS and improve overall efficiency of on-board operations.
Typically, many steps are required to become proficient in the use of ECDIS and accomplish a task, which takes significant time. Furthermore, each ECDIS varies according to manufacturer and model.
iPlus ECDIS is based on the ECDIS checklist provided by the Nautical Institute (NI). It includes 66 detailed operations comprising 3,200 images and screenshots while signage and pop-up messages guide users to subsequent steps. The program can be displayed on a tablet on board next to the ECDIS. Material is applicable to ECDIS produced by four Japanese manufacturers.
Currently, the digital guide is being distributed to 200 NYK ships and is expected to soon expand to ships managed by the NYK Group. In its medium-term management plan ‘Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalisation and Green’, the NYK Group emphasises its efforts to continue to boost digitalisation to realise more efficient operations and create new value.{/mprestriction}
