Marlink signs as Digital Ship Global Events sponsor for 2016

Marlink has signed a deal to continue as the Global Sponsor of the Digital Ship conference and exhibition series in 2016, for a third year running.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The global series of two-day Digital Ship maritime technology conferences and exhibitions will this year include events in Hamburg, Copenhagen, Singapore and Athens, running from February to November.

As in previous years, Marlink and its parent company Airbus Defence and Space will act as the main sponsors for each of these events and will also host a gala dinner for all conference attendees at the various locations around the world. The events are free to attend for shipping company employees.

The agreement additionally includes sponsorship of four editions of the Digital Ship Maritime CIO Forum, a series of one-day events that will take place in Hong Kong, Rotterdam and Bergen over the course of 2016 following the year’s first Forum in Cyprus on February 3rd.

“Marlink is happy to continue our longstanding relationship with Digital Ship and endorse its work in facilitating the exchange of the latest news and ideas in the maritime satcom market,” said Tore Morten Olsen, head of Marlink.

“We are delighted to continue as the Global Sponsor of Digital Ship Events in 2016 and look forward to showing our ongoing support for the local maritime market around the world at the events' various locations.”

Stuart Fryer, managing director of Digital Ship Events, welcomed Marlink's reaffirmed commitment to the global conference series and its desire to build on the success of the events already held during the first two years of the sponsorship agreement.

The sponsorship agreement covers the whole of 2016, and will remain in place as Airbus Defence and Space transitions its commercial satcoms business (which includes Marlink) over to Apax Partners following the latter’s recently agreed deal to acquire that part of the Airbus Group.{/mprestriction}
