NYK and Dualog sign maritime IT R&D partnership

Norwegian maritime technology company Dualog has announced a new strategic partnership with Japanese shipping giant NYK, to work together on research and development of technologies in areas like automation, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data analysis, for use in applications for the maritime market.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The companies note that the immediate focus is on a long-term project to enhance onboard IoT platforms, with integrated data transfer capabilities to allow for Big Data analysis.

“This strategic partnership agreement is the result of a long-term effort from both parties,” said Morten Lind-Olsen, CEO of Dualog.

“By combining the best of breed from both shipping and IT, the parties seek to create the cutting-edge digital platform at sea.”

The signing ceremony for the partnership was held at the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries in Oslo, and attended by Svein Steimler, corporate officer of NYK Line, and Mr Lind-Olsen.

Also present were Hiroshi Tabata, vice-minister for international affairs at the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and Dilek Ayhan, deputy minister of Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.{/mprestriction}
