IoT applied to bilge water management

 

Nautic Alert has launched a new system, the X2, to manage the discharge of untreated bilge water onboard commercial vessels, using edge computing and internet of things (IoT) technologies to improve accuracy and enable remote access.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}The system allows users to monitor untreated bilge levels in real-time, on board or remotely, and disable discharge, or redirect untreated bilge water into an onboard oily waste holding tank when discharge is prohibited, using Nautic Alert Nevata’s SMART bilge pump controller.

The master discharge setting can be operated remotely if required, with access available via mobile devices or smartphones. The system can also automatically re-engage discharge operations if an emergency high-water condition occurs.

All bilge operations are logged with a corresponding timestamp and the GPS position indicating when and where they occurred, including manual-override events, to enable the creation of audit and compliance reports. As such, the remote bilge logging feature can help a company to confirm that all pump operations were conducted to an oily waste holding tank, or were discharged in an approved location.

Nautic Alert X2 is certified for use on the Verizon 4G LTE network or the Iridium satellite network.{/mprestriction}
