Spire launches business unit for maritime data and analytics

Space-to-cloud analytics company, Spire Global, has announced the formal launch of a new business unit, Spire Maritime, which will be specifically dedicated to developing satellite data and analytics solutions for the maritime industry.

{mprestriction ids="1,2"}Spire Maritime will utilise technologies like machine learning to deliver real-time data and insights, helping ships to navigate safely and reduce at-sea collisions. Users will benefit from access to predictive data, features that detect vessel ownership and provide historical data on vessel usage or cargo patterns.

For the last year, the company has been operating in stealth mode. The new business unit closed out 2018 with 160 per cent year over year revenue growth. The company will continue to partner with maritime data companies to create relevant datasets for customers worldwide.

John Lusk will serve as Spire Maritime’s general manager to guide the overall business growth and direction. He is joined by Simon van den Dries, who is serving as chief commercial officer.

“Spire has an opportunity to create tools and solutions that will fundamentally transform the Maritime industry. Our objective is to deliver measurable value never seen before by our customers"  said Mr Lusk. “We are solely focused on creating actual value for the customer with digital transformation.”{/mprestriction}
