“K” Line’s online training secures DNV GL certification

“K” Line Maritime Academy (KLMA) Japan has obtained certification from DNV GL to carry out online training for seafarers.

LNG seafarer training by KLMA Japan, “LNG Sigtto Standard Training Course”, was certified by DNV GL in 2007 to confirm that it adapts to the international seafarers training standard.

The course has recently been brought online, adding to the conventional face-to-face training. The certification range has also been enlarged. This is the first certification by DNV GL for online seafarers training in Japan.

“K” Line states that is places KLMA Japan at the core of its seafarers training system. By adopting the "Online" method, “K” Line has established a training system that eliminates the risk of infection due to the movement of trainees and face-to-face lectures during the COVID-19 pandemic. This enables the company to maintain safety in navigation, which is fundamental to its business operations

Expanding safety, environment and quality initiatives is one of “K” Line’s business policies to create corporate value. Growing seafarers is an important mission to accomplish it. By providing continuous, high-quality training to its seafarers through KLMA, “K” Line promotes safe operation and environmental conservation, leading to higher quality marine transportation.
