The UK-based company’s training facility at Glasgow Airport will be the first in central Scotland to offer industry professionals all elements of the GWO course – Working at Height, Fire Awareness, Sea Survival, First Aid and Manual Handling – at one accessible site. Advanced Rescue Training and a course on new maritime fuels will be added soon.
“Our investment, not just in GWO infrastructure but also experienced staff who have worked in renewables and done the job they are preparing others for, shows our commitment to supporting the sector and to remaining at the forefront of training,” said Martin White, chief executive of SMT.
“With infrastructure growth in renewable energy projects at an all-time high, we are investing heavily in our renewable course products, to support businesses in a world that’s shifting to more environmentally friendly alternative fuels.”
White added that the GWO accreditation showcases SMT’s training credentials, with the company using leading industry figures to train representatives from several flag states, along with shipping company staff and management, to the highest standards.
